Small business complaints on bank lending soar 119% year on year
The number of complaints from small firms about lending by the banks has soared by 119% in the last year, according to figures published by Aldermore bank.
Nearly 500 complaints relating to bank loans or overdrafts were submitted to the Financial Ombudsman by small firms over the 12 months up to March 2010. This compares with only 226 complaints in the previous year. Complaints about small business current accounts rose by nearly a third between 2008/09 and 2009/10.
