Retail sales increase in July
Retail sales grew by 1.1% month on month in July, which is the fastest pace of growth seen since February, according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Spending in food stores dropped by 1% between June and July, while spending in non-food stores grew by 1.8%. A variety of retailers saw a rise in sales, including sports equipment stores and jewellery shops, However, household goods stores saw a drop in sales.
