Google has announced that it will allow firms to use their competitors' trade marks as keywords in search adverts in all European countries.

Google has announced that it will allow firms to use their competitors' trade marks as keywords in search adverts in all European countries. Google's AdWords sells the right to have an advert displayed when a certain term is searched for on the search engine. Some advertisers use competitors' brands as a keyword for their own adverts, which the competitors say is trade mark infringement. The change will take place from 14 September.
