Consumer confidence has fallen for the first time since April 2009, according to the latest research by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and research firm Nielsen.

Consumer confidence has fallen for the first time since April 2009, according to the latest research by the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and research firm Nielsen. The Consumer Confidence survey shows that the confidence index fell by two points over the last quarter. Consumers' concerns about the economy have risen sharply, with 39% citing this as their biggest concern. Nearly three-quarters of consumers said they feel their job prospects over the next year are 'bad' or 'not so good'.
