Government to publish draft Defamation Bill
The Government has announced it will "take the initiative" and consult on Lord Lester's Defamation Bill over the summer.
The Bill proposes a range of areas for improvement of the UK's libel laws, including requiring claimants to demonstrate they have suffered real harm, a requirement on claimants to prove financial loss and for most cases to be heard only by a judge.
