Charity trustees must be aware of legal implications, say experts
Many business owners are becoming charity trustees without understanding the legal implications, according to some finance experts.
Charity trustees, who have a legal responsibility for the management of a charity, shouldn't take on the responsibility without "careful consideration", according to a charities expert at accountancy practice Hurst. The comments come after the number of serious incidents reported to the Charity Commission rose by more than 75% in 2009/10.
