Cabinet Office announces review of Government websites

The Minister for the Cabinet Office has announced a review of all Government websites in a bid to save money, including a review of the cost efficiency of the Business Link website.

Francis Maude said that the existing 820 Government-funded websites will be subject to a review, which will look at cost, usage and whether resources could be better used. The results of the review will be published in September and it is expected that up to 75% of websites could be scrapped altogether. UK Trade & Investment is the most expensive website to run, costing £11.78 per visit. Businesslink.gov.uk is the second most expensive and currently costs £2.15 per visit, according to the Central Office for Information.
