Government announces review of health and safety laws
The Government has announced it will review health and safety legislation with a view to tackling the "compensation culture" in the UK.
The review will be led by Lord Young, who will report on his findings by the summer. Prime Minister David Cameron has said that health and safety laws "need to protect people, not overwhelm business with red tape". The Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) commented that it "welcomes any debate that helps to dispel the negative myth that health and safety is all about banning things".
