Two-thirds of firms not ready for carbon reduction scheme
Recent research shows that up to two-thirds of firms are unprepared for the new CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme (formerly known as the Carbon Reduction Commitment).
The Scheme, which came into force in April 2010, requires larger businesses to register and report their carbon emissions, with a view to reducing both carbon emissions and power consumption. However, the research by consultancy firm Morse reveals that 72% of respondents are unaware of how best to reduce their emissions.
