Statistics confirm Easter retail boost, says BRC
The British Retail Consortium (BRC) has said that the Office for National Statistics' (ONS) retail figures confirm that March's retail boost was driven by the Easter holidays.
The BRC reports that its figures show that the sales growth was concentrated in the week leading up to Easter. According to the ONS, sales at stores selling predominantly food were 1.2% higher year on year, while non-food stores saw a 6.7% increase in sales.
