Chancellor promises business tax reform

Chancellor George Osborne has told business leaders that he will announce a five-year plan to cut corporation tax in the emergency Budget, due on 22 June.

Speaking to guests at a Confederation of British Industry (CBI) dinner, Mr Osborne said that he wants to reform the corporate tax regime by simplifying business taxation and reducing the main rate of corporation tax of 28%. He also wants to remove tax breaks for companies and crack down on tax avoidance.
