Paternity leave increase will have no effect on take-up, say experts
Labour's plans to increase statutory paternity leave to four weeks will have little effect on take-up of paternity leave, according to some HR professionals.
The current take-up of paternity leave is low in the UK, which has led Labour to promise a "fathers' month" of leave in its election manifesto. However, HR professionals have said that the loss of earnings during paternity leave is too prohibitive and criticised the plan as "another piece of administrative burden" for employers.
