Equality Bill could force sites off Internet

The Equality Bill could force Internet sites to be taken down if they are deemed by disabled people to be inaccessible, according to OUT-LAW.com editor Struan Robertson.

Mr Robertson has said that the Bill contains a clause which allows people to go straight to the host of a website and demand for it to be taken down, if it contravenes equality laws, rather than ask the website owner. If the host does not comply with the request, it could leave itself open to liability under the Equality Bill.
