Chancellor confirms 50p broadband tax
Chancellor Alistair Darling confirmed in the Budget last week that a broadband tax will come into force later in the year.
From 1 October 2010, a monthly 50p tax will be levied on landlines in order to fund 'superfast' broadband services. The Government estimates that charging landline owners £6 per year could raise around £175 million annually to fund faster broadband services.
