Government urges manufacturers to take up import duty scheme

The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) is promoting a new European Union (EU) scheme, which helps British manufacturers save money on import duties.

Under the EU Duty Suspensions & Tariff Quotas Scheme, firms that source their materials from the EU could be eligible to import these materials without paying import duty. BIS is urging British businesses to take advantage of the scheme and apply before the 15 March 2010 deadline for the first round of this year's applications.
