EU committee vote in favour of 20 weeks' full pay on maternity leave

A European Parliament committee has passed draft legislation to extend the period of maternity leave with full pay to 20 weeks.

The women's rights committee at the Parliament voted to extend maternity leave provisions under the Pregnant Workers Directive, which would effectively treble maternity pay in the UK. A spokesperson for the Institute of Directors (IOD) told PersonnelToday.com that the directive is "a massive worry".
