A court has issued an injunction against a council who awarded a job to a maintenance contractor who had submitted an "abnormally low" bid. The court action was brought about by a rival contractor who lost out to the firm that submitted a so-called 'suicide bid'. Lawyers predict that this ruling could pave the way for other contractors to take legal action against bidders who offer substantially lower quotes than theirs for public sector contracts.
