VAT concessions will affect rural businesses, say accountants

The withdrawal of two tax concessions will have a considerable effect on rural businesses, according to accountancy firm Saffery Champness.

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) will withdraw concessions relating to reclaiming VAT on property developments and the Capital Goods Scheme (CGS) from 1 May 2010. A Saffrey Champness spokesperson said that the change will "hit smaller businesses disproportionately hard".
