Tribunal rules on holiday leave lost during illness

A tribunal has ruled that an employee should be permitted to carry over annual leave that they were too ill to take the previous year.

In the first tribunal of its kind, an employee who broke his ankle and was off work for three months was not allowed to take holiday that was originally booked in that period. The ruling comes after the European Court of Justice (ECJ) ruled last year that employees should be allowed to carry over holiday in some cases.
