Tax system prevents firms taking on employees, survey shows

More than half of small firms who are keen to grow say that UK taxes are preventing them from taking on more staff, according to the results of a poll by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB). Around

Around 58% of those businesses surveyed said that the UK tax system is restrictive to their plans for growth. The FSB is now calling for the Government to freeze National Insurance (NI) contributions and give an NI rebate to small firms (with less than 50 staff) that take on staff in 2010 and 2011.
