Governments launch consultations on EU dairy fund

The Government has launched a consultation on how the UK's share of the European Union (EU) Dairy Fund should be distributed to farmers.

The UK has been allocated 29 million Euros and the final decision on how the money will be distributed must be submitted to the European Commission by 31 March 2010. The consultation closes on 17 February 2010 and representatives from the farming industry are invited to submit their views. Governments in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are also undertaking the same consultation and an agreed approach will eventually apply across the UK.
