Mandatory online tax returns "absurd" for rural firms
HM Revenue & Customs' (HMRC) decision to make it mandatory for businesses with a turnover of more than £100,000 per year to file their tax returns online is "absurd", according to the Country Land and Business Association (CLA).
It has warned that many rural businesses are unable to access broadband, which makes it impossible to file online tax returns, and called the requirement "unworkable".
