Businesses improve thriftiness during recession

The recession has prompted UK businesses to adopt a thrifty and cost-conscious attitude to their use of resources, a recent report has claimed.

Envirowise, which provides advice on resources, has published the 'Business Thrift Shift Report'. The report indicates that nearly three-quarters of firms have more detailed knowledge of the resources they use because of the downturn. Raw materials and consumables were the most popular items to undergo cost-cutting measures, while many businesses said they had minimised their use of water, energy and transport.
