Small firms must help themselves to get credit, claims Graydon MD

The managing director of one of the UK's credit reference agencies claims that small businesses need to help themselves if they want to be accepted for credit by the banks.

Martin Williams, managing director of Graydon UK, writes on his blog that the majority of small firms in the UK "suffer from an above normal credit rating". He attributes this to a lack of data rather than negative data. He urges small firms to look at credit ratings as "tools to help them obtain better credit lines" and make sure all information, such as how many years a business has been going and how many staff it has, are supplied to credit reference agencies.
