Government launches consultation on street traders and pedlars
The UK and Scottish Governments have launched a consultation on the control of street trading and certification of pedlars, following a report by Durham University, which was commissioned to look into changing the licensing laws on a national basis.
The consultation covers the possibility of granting local authorities the power to certify pedlars (who are currently certified by police authorities), and discusses draft guidance on how to implement the current regime regulating illegal street trading and pedlary.
