Funding slashed for small business software piracy clampdown

Funding designed to help Trading Standards launch a crackdown on software piracy in small businesses is being increasingly redirected, according to the Federation Against Software Theft (FAST).

It reports that the majority of the funding, which was allocated to Trading Standards to help them run a programme against copyright infringement, has been cut or redirected. The programme would have involved Trading Standards entering the premises of small firms who are suspected of using counterfeit software.
