Business payment trends improve in September
The time taken for businesses to make payments in September 2009 saw its biggest month-on-month improvement since December 2007, according to the most recent Late Payment Index from information services firm Experian.
British firms paid their bills 2.06 days earlier on average during September, compared to August. This is the largest fall since the number fell between November and December 2007. The largest businesses, with more than 501 employees, saw the biggest improvement in payments in September 2009. They now pay their bills up to 24.63 days beyond the invoice terms, which is 13.5% less time than in August.
