Online advertising overtakes TV
Spending on online advertising overtook TV advertising for the first time ever, according to recent figures from the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB).
Online advertising expenditure increased by 4.6% in the first six months of 2009, to reach £1.75 billion. Online advertising now has a market share of 23.5%, which the IAB says signals a "significant restructure" of businesses' marketing budgets. The research also shows that nearly two-thirds of spending on online advertising goes on paid-for search advertising.
