Thousands of retailers to go bust by 2010, research shows
Business advisory firm BDO Stoy Hayward LLP is warning that the retail sector faces a longer period of uncertainty than other sectors with the number of business failures expected to rise in 2010.
The firm's latest Industry Watch report predicts that more than 5,000 retailers could go out of business next year as rising unemployment and lower wage growth combine to reduce levels of consumer spending.
