New regulations lower minimum age for HGV drivers
The minimum legal age at which people can apply for a large goods vehicle (LGV) licence has been dropped from 21 to 18, under new legislation.
The change comes as part of the new Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) legislation, which came into force from 10 September 2009. The Driver CPC also introduces rules on training for professional bus, coach and lorry drivers.
