Give small businesses chance of Government contracts, MPs urged

Small businesses should be given a better chance at securing Government contracts, business leaders have said.

Speaking at an event hosted by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), FSB chairman John Wright told a panel of MPs that it is hard for small firms to tender for public sector contracts because of the way contracts are aggregated by councils and central Government. Dorset Business reports that Mr Wright pointed out that 16% of public sector contracts in the USA are given to small firms and that this should be the case in the UK.
