Big firms demanding 'early' payment discounts
Large firms are asking small businesses for a discount when they settle their invoices promptly, according to figures released by the FSB.
Some large firms are charging a settlement fee of up to 10% of the value of the invoice for paying within 60 days. The practice has prompted the FSB to call for businesses to sign up to the Prompt Payment Code and for Companies House to be granted the authority to fine late-paying firms.
