Apprentice pay rise threatens hairdressing recruitment
The recent increase in the minimum weekly pay for apprentices could lead to fewer hairdressing salons taking on recruits, according to an industry expert.
Andrew Don, editor of the National Hairdressers' Federation's (NHF) Salon Focus magazine, told BAD News that the £15 increase in the minimum weekly pay for apprentices, which came into force on 1 August 2009, could have a detrimental effect on smaller salons.
