HMRC gets green light to continue tax deferral scheme
HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has been given the go-ahead to continue with its deferral scheme that allows firms to defer tax, VAT and PAYE payments, according to reports in The Telegraph.
Lawyers for the Government department have given approval for the scheme to continue, despite claims from some parties that the deferral system allows firms to continue trading when they are insolvent. HMRC said that it is satisfied the programme is being "appropriately managed".
