Government launches consultation on drivers' hours regulations

The Government has launched a consultation on the rules governing the number of hours worked by professional drivers.

The Department for Transport (DfT) is reviewing the UK domestic drivers' hours rules, known as the Domestic Rules, which set daily driving limits and break and rest requirements. Drivers affected by the rules include those involved in passenger transport, refuse collection, trades and utilities and road maintenance. The consultation is open till 13 October 2009.
