Fifth of firms have skill shortage due to cutting staff levels

One in five business owners have a skills shortage as a direct result of cutting staff levels to cope during the recession, according to a recent survey.

The Working Nation report from Vodafone also reveals that 40% of those business owners that have made cuts now regret the decision because of the effect it has had on the skills of their workforce. The report's authors conclude that small and medium-sized firms will struggle to grow if they continue to lose skilled members of staff.
