Business libel lawsuits triple during recession
The number of libel cases initiated by businesses has trebled in the last year, according to figures from legal data provider Sweet & Maxwell.
A report on FT.com reveals that the number could rise further during the recession, with one legal expert claiming that the rise is down to firms "doing what they can to preserve their business in a difficult market". The article reports that firms are "particularly sensitive" to suggestions that their business is in trouble.
