Penalties for IP infringement set to increase
The fine for breaching intellectual property law will increase to £50,000 from the current £5,000, according to the latest Government proposals.
The UK Intellectual Property Office (IPO) launched a consultation during 2008, where the majority of those who responded backed the option of raising penalties for intellectual property infringement. The Government will develop legislation to implement the higher penalty.
