Fifth of small businesses not profitable since 2008
Nearly one in five small and medium-sized firms in the UK have not been profitable since the second quarter of 2008, a study by Continental Research has shown.
The survey shows that more than half of the businesses polled have not been profitable this year, while 10% have not been in profit since the last quarter of 2007. Firms with a turnover of between £50,000 and £1 million were the worst affected.
