Employment law "major problem" for small businesses

Nearly half of small businesses say they have difficulty navigating the UK's employment laws.

A survey carried out by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) reveals that 47% of small firms say they have faced difficulties with employment legislation. Furthermore, 84% of flexible working requests have been accepted by small firms, although 63% of these firms believe there are barriers to allowing flexible working such as maintaining staffing levels. The survey also reveals that only half of respondents have hired employees in the past six months, with many businesses having a freeze on recruitment.
