Government announces subsidy for firms who recruit staff
The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced a raft of new measures aimed at getting people back into work.
The package includes subsidies of up to £2,500 for firms who recruit and train people who have been looking for work for six months or more. It will also offer help and advice to those wanting to start up their own business. James Purnell, Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, said: "This includes a subsidy of £1,000 and depending on their location they will also have the opportunity to access up to £1,500's worth of in-work training to give that person the right skills for the job."
