Flexible working rights to be extended in April

Working rights are due to be extended to allow parents of older children to request flexible working.

From 6 April those with children aged under 16 can ask their employer to consider a flexible working request, under the Flexible Working (Eligibility, Complaints and Remedies) (Amendment) Regulations 2009. The current regulations only allow parents with children under 6 or disabled children under 18 to ask for flexible working. The new legislation excludes Northern Ireland.
