Social enterprises will buy more private businesses, claims industry leader

Social enterprises will find it increasingly easy to buy private firms as fewer private businesses try to acquire each other.

Nigel Kershaw, chief executive of Big Issue Invest, part of The Big Issue group of companies, told Third Sector magazine that he believes the number of acquisitions by social enterprises will rise. He said: "Two years ago we looked to set up an acquisition fund for social enterprises but the price of companies was very high. But prices have come down and I expect to see a lot more acquisitions by social enterprises."
