Reduce VAT on local services, say MEPs
MEPs have given their unanimous support to allowing European Union (EU) member states to reduce VAT for locally supplied goods and services, such as restaurants, beauty treatments and domestic care.
The majority of MEPs voted to adopt the recommendations, made in a recent report, which was compiled by Dutch MEP Ieke van den Burg. This report also proposes extending the range of goods and services on which member states may reduce VAT.
