The survey of 250 UK firms also found that only one firm reported being offered a loan as part of the loan guarantee scheme, while over half of those businesses seeking a loan were either refused or did not receive enough funding to meet their needs. David Frost, director general of the BCC, said: "A lot more needs to be done to raise awareness of these schemes. It is vital that banks support companies through what is an extraordinarily difficult time."
