The FPB has urged the Payments Council to phase out cheque payments slowly and not set a definite date for its abolition in order to minimise the effects on small businesses.
The FPB has urged the Payments Council to phase out cheque payments slowly and not set a definite date for its abolition in order to minimise the effects on small businesses. Phil Orford, chief executive of the FPB, said: "Even in a world filled with electronic communications many small businesses still rely on payment by cheque. Holding back the planned phase-out until viable alternatives are in place would be the sensible approach."
