Small businesses are failing to protect their wireless networks and could be compromising the safety of data, according to a recent survey. A poll carried out by Napera Networks found that 70% of businesses have inadequate protection on their wireless networks. A further 57% said they were unable to tell who was accessing the network while more than half of the businesses questioned said they allowed staff to use shared passwords to log on to the wireless network. Pierre Blom, spokesperson for Napera, warns that a lack of security could leave small businesses open to attacks and advises firms to "have policies in place to identify and control who and what are accessing the network" and "all individuals should have their own password".
