Hotels and restaurants suffer 'worst slowdown in a decade'

The service sector has seen its biggest slowdown in more than a decade, according to survey figures.

The CIPS/Markit Survey revealed that hotel and restaurant businesses are faring the worst during the economic gloom. Activity in the service sector, which accounts for 70% of economic output, has fallen at the fastest rate for 12 years. The drop in consumer spending has been highlighted as one of the main reasons for the slowdown, as reported in the Guardian.
