Rural areas could suffer from road pricing schemes, study reveals
The Commission for Rural Communities has said in a study that road pricing schemes could adversely affect the countryside.
The study revealed how road pricing could affect local shops, public services and public transport in rural areas, and isolate and impoverish rural inhabitants.
The Commission outlined concerns that people living and working in rural areas could end up worse off under a road pricing deal because they spend more of their income on transport than people in urban areas.
