Energy Performance Certificates now in force
Landlords are being warned to ensure they are fully compliant with Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), which have been a legal requirement since 1 October.
Landlords wishing to let property will have to provide an EPC to prospective tenants. The EPC lists recommendations to improve the energy efficiency of a property and lasts ten years.
Landlords who don't comply can be issued fines of up to £200 every time they're asked to produce an EPC and fail to do so, as reported by Contractor UK.
